CDC F Fly Hares Ear - #14

The Hares Ear CDC F Fly is one of those simple patterns that catches fish almost everywhere. Originally developed by Slovenian fly tier Marjan Fratnik, the F Fly has earned its place in fly boxes across the world by suggesting a wide range of small flies without trying to imitate any one of them too closely.

The CDC wing keeps the fly sitting lightly in the surface, while its sparse profile makes it a great choice for trout feeding on midges, small sedges and emerging upwings. It is particularly useful when the fish are rising but proving difficult to tempt with a more heavily dressed dry fly.

Fish it on rivers or stillwaters, either on its own or as the point fly in a team of dries. A simple, proven dry fly that we would never be without.
