The Fluorescent Yellow Booby is a dependable stillwater pattern that is well worth having in the box, particularly when the trout are responding to brighter flies. Its buoyant foam eyes create plenty of movement and allow it to be fished in several different ways throughout the season.

Fish it on the point of a washing-line cast, pull it through the surface or pair it with a sinking line and short leader to hold the fly just above the bottom. It is a particularly useful searching pattern when you need to find the depth and work out where the trout are feeding.
